Cauliflower, Food, Recipe, Soup

This soup was my favourite for many years, it’s still one of my favourites, but by the years more have been added to the list. My mum always made it for my birthday.

It is one of the simplest soups and all you need is a little time, one cauliflower, flour, butter, one stock cube and a little milk.

Clean the cauliflower and add it to a pot with a pint or two of water (0,5 – 1 litres of water) depending on how many you plan to serve. Leave it with a lid on until the cauliflower is soft and tender. Mix about half a cup of milk and a couple of tablespoons of flour in an airtight container. Shake well until you have dissolved the flour. Remove the cauliflower from the pot and add the flour mix and a stock cube. Anytime you add flour to a soup or sauce let it boil for at least five minutes to lose the flour-taste. When the cauliflower is tender take it out of the pot, remove the leaves and chop it up. Add to the soup after it has boiled for some minutes. To get a creamier texture mash half of the cauliflower in a foodprocessor or something similar and add to the soup.

Serve the soup with crispy bacon, broccoli, sausages and fresh baguettes. You’ll love it.

Nyt!

Christmas, Christmas Count Down, Music, Yule

I hope you are having a wonderful day and thank you for dropping by to hear another yulesong. Today is a re-run from yesterday, but today what you get is the clean version, and no, I don’t mean they have removed the word faggot (I noticed a little too late that they did in yesterday’s song, I’m sorry about that..) No, for this song, there is a cleaner version of the lead singer. A little too clean for some of you, yes, but if you can manage to ignore the fact that he was a member of a boyband earlier, you may be able to listen to the song anyway.

This is the version of the song I first heard, and this is the version that made me fall in love with the song. I didn’t know any better then, I do prefer the original, but I still like this one. It’s like a childhood friend I can’t let go off . I know it’s Ronan Keating, but then you have Maire Brennan as well (her name is spelt, and probably also pronounced, differently in Gaelic) and her voice is great. So if you prefer a calmer version of yesterday’s song, here is Ronan Keating and Maire Brennan with Fairytale of New York
